Thanks for linking to the article.  Of course, I completely agree with you that this is common sense.  Unfortunately, I don't see the social networks going in this direction any time soon.  There is no real technology-related reason for this.  The security issues can be ironed out.  What this comes down to is good old-fashioned Greed with a capital G. There's too much self-interest for them in keeping things walled off and separate.

You should come on by and leave a comment in the article thread.  Another perspective is always welcome.
